#3 Not history, people... although time itself is also fairly efficient in these matters it doesn't come close to what people have destroyed en masse, and unfortunately, even people of recent history (see "Nazi book burning";)... =/

As for the video itself namely the "ancient battery", I suggest an alternative question to the classic and ever repeating "how did they...?", let's ask something more interesting, like "what was it meant to power up?"... food for thought =)

#3 That is why we are so stupid today. We think freaking aliens came from another planet and created stuff here just because the writings about it got destroyed.

What's always funny to me is how scientists claim to tell us what happened "millions of years ago" but can't even be sure about what happened thousands of years ago.

#10
that's because there are short and long tons... the most usual in the non metric system is the short ton (2000 pounds) so ...

16 tons = 16 x 2000 pounds (short ton) = 32000 pounds
14500 kg (1 kg = approx 2,2 pounds) so 14 500 x 2.2 = 31 900 pounds
exact figure is 31 966,44 pounds

go see

#12 You seem to think 'scientists' are one group of people all working in some big room together. Different disciplines within science have different means of deduction and investigation at their disposal, and each of these means has its own scope and limitation. Which is why astrophysicists can use known physical laws to propose events that occurred millions of years in the past, yet historians and cryptographers can't determine the authorship and provenance of the comparatively recent Voynich manuscript.

There are a lot more them these 10, and more incredible then these ones too. But they are impossible to explain to people who believe everything they were taught in government schools.

#13 Dear spaghetti monster.. How about 16 tons being 16 tons, being 16 000kg. short tons, long tons, quarts and pints, ounces and feets, all with different relations... Come on, wake up. I know this is sooo off-topic but illogical behavior infuriates me and since over 50% of videos we see are made in a country that claims to be number one in knowledge and refuses to back down on some ancient beliefs of tyranny, empire etc dominating them with metric system, we get to endure measures and figures that are soo illogical that it makes me...it makes me mad. Or writing a comment.

as a materials scientist i feel obliged to tell this, the first 2 aren't mysteries let me explain them briefly:

- Damascus steel is basically steel with high carbon content (carbon makes steel harder) harder alloys like the alloys used for making drill bits don't get damaged as easily so it can cut through other swords much like drill bits drilling through other materials

-the iron pillar of delhi has some second phase particles with low chemical activity (they probably got mixed in from the slag by accident*) these particles create a thin film around it and it protects the pillar much like the addition of 12% chromium making steel stainless.

*I don't think they "knew" how to make corrosion resistant steel back then because if they did they would have used it to make some cutlery as well

#16 I don't know where you're from but a few years ago... the metric system did'nt exist... old england ruled and the system they used was it... I happen to live in a country that made the transition... I was merely explaining to # 10 why it was said 16 tons = 14 500 kg.... dont't f...g shoot the piano player....
