In 2005, author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn't become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we've ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.

It's basically to "try to walk in the other ones shoes" (from "to kill a mockingbird"
or as Jack Handey says:
“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”

Incredible speech, I wonder if all people have the same capacity to be emphatic or some are less then others or it is just a simple matter of slipping into this state of "I am the center of the universe" due to some situation that happened. Anyway I am really surprised how many inconsiderate people there are. At one point you also get tiered of always acting considerately if all around you just trample over you.

Have anyone ever experienced that whenever they are in a different city, or different country, that everyone is really kind and polite where ever you go ?
The reason for this is that you are going out of your default settings and you open and expand your senses and take in the new cultures, experiences and actually start careing about the things happening around you.
Try to change your rutines, and try to take in account everything you take for granted. The persons in your city is just as polite and kind as when you travel, you just don't see it.
