4WD vs RWD. But even with both being 4WD, that would be a coin toss. Pickup has power and weight but touareg has got one the best drivetrains/electronics in the world.. About tires, i think they are pretty even, pickup has off road tires but they are massive, ie larger contact patch.

Don't even bother sticking up for the Mercian automobile they are shit at making this type of thing, thats why they make such fanciful movies etc. They all came from Europe but have forgotten there inherent genius......

Some of you guys just can't be as dense as your comments suggest......
The Chevy truck does have 4WD but the guy does not successfully engage the front differential, so he is in 2WD. He has made mods to the suspension for "looks" that hurts the performance and pulling capability greatly.
And the VW is not the mild mannered grocery-getter that it appears to be ; it is a 5000 lb SUV with the 5L V10 TDI diesel with over 553 ft lbs of torque and an electronicly controlled AWD drive train that is one of the best in the world.
Once the idiot starts smoking his rear tires the contest is over because he is sliding backwards on melted rubber.
Put the heavier and more powerful Chevy in 4WD and you will see a big difference.

That engine is not available in North America - which is where this took place. The best he has is 406 ft pounds of torque
Who knows what the Chev has in it - and the VW gave him the edge in getting the pull started and he still motored away.

#21 Well you are dead wrong about the V10 not being in the US. A simple search would have told you that.....
From Wiki:
"V10 TDI (2002–2010)The V10 TDI was offered in the United States for a limited time in 2004, but emissions regulations forced it off the market for a temporary period.
The V10 TDI returned to the U.S. market as 2006 model year vehicle in five states. Later US models went on sale in 2006, which was compliant with 50 states emission with Ultra-low sulfur diesel and particulate filter.Stricter California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions standards resulted in the V10 TDI being cancelled again in the United States. The model was dubbed the "Meanest Vehicle for the Environment in 2007" by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy because of its fuel economy of 17 miles per US gallon city (12 l/100 km) and 24 mpg highway (10 l/100 km). The V10 engine has since been replaced by a V6 TDI engine that meets the CARB minimum emission requirements for the 2009 model year."
On this site you can see some of the used V10's that are available in the US...just scroll down to engine size and pick V10 only.
