Curious, at 1:58 Matt states Google takes the quality of it's search very seriously. They also don't mind publishing photos of my private home where my kids live, without ever asking me, and my neighbors homes as well, and they'll be published online forever.

They also don't mind rifling through my private email content, calendar and contacts as they please, again, without ever asking me.

He doesn't explain why the same search terms come up with different results on 2 different computers, depending on your web history in the past. It can be a huge handicap and pain in the ass when it's literally impossible to find the information you want on your own machine, but use someone else's and it's the first result. Also, only display the ads that I want to see? I want to see NO ads, make that happen.

Unless things drastically changed since I worked at a data recovery centre, I call bulls--t on his statement about customers not being able to pay to increase their status. I distinctly remember the owner having a status war with another local data recovery centre and the one with the deepest pockets was the winner each time. The cost increased every time as well.

You don't necessarily pay google to increase your page status.

Anyone with a solid understanding of what that guy was saying can charge to create page links and web pages that spoof links to and from your page to increase "visibility".

And as Google finds ways to block fake positives from such sites, the site creators find ways to avoid the blocking algorithms.

That said - nothing is more effective at getting your page to the top of the list than changing it often. The more the spider has to crawl your page to check for updates, the better its rank. The spider only checks periodically, and schedules a sooner crawl if the page has changed since its last crawl, or a later crawl if there have been no changes.
