I wonder if the crow would have been able to figure it out if it hadn't been through the previous experiment with only two steps.

This is nothing compared to the other things the crow can do. I bet that if none provided the small stick in the first place, the crow would find other way to do it.

Crow are one of the most intelligent birds :) (the most develop bird language etc)

Not really a fair experiment,
The crow already used the short stick prior, so it knew that the short stick was needed.

Still cool thought.
It should have been 3 new problems to properly test the crow.
