What's pathetic about skateboarding in your 40's? Most of us are working in cubicles at that point. How pathetic is that?

The Nobelprize/tombstone line was great. It perfectly relates to what we desperately need in every dimension to fuel our drive for progress and evolution - resistance.
Because it's what we have to create artificially when we live in unnatural conditions like space, and without it, we collapse in every imaginable context, not just our bodies. It also explains why so many great inventors and pioneers come from humble backgrounds and often manage to overcome even the most bleak prospects.
