Those are tugboats steering the ship into port. The shooting water is used to cool the engine's "fresh" cooling water by means of the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is basically a radiator with separate sets of piping in which sea water and fresh engine water circulate, thereby cooling the fresh water which cools the engine. The water shooting out of ports on the hull is attributed to the powerful sea water circulation pumps needed to cool the the large engines found on tugboats.

#9 Nope, not so. Engine cooling is all done below the water line. The yellow and the red boats are fire-fighting boats that can also be used as tugs. They are just saluting the huge ship and putting on a show. The container ship is being kept in the channel by the smaller tugs with lines connected to the stern and prow. Many tugs are also equipped with water cannons to act as first-responders to a ship fire since they are always out and about.
