In France, today media says it gave 650.000 jobs to USA citizens. True or false? Who knows?
Implicitly, these french medias let french people think that giving the same authorization in France would give also many jobs in these time of high unemployment levels...
But I do understand it also mean undrinkable water in many places, possible cancer rise because of polluted areas and various other environmental damages, so I would prefer this technology not to be used.

#4: You're right! "The contamination is so severe than the water could not even be clean in an treatment plant"
Maybe Americans thinks they have enough space to move to another place in this case. Or maybe they don't have enough space for democratic expression to let people reject fracking. At least, did they really got these 650.000 jobs? Or just one or two new billionaires?

The makers of this video aimed it at low-information people (like #1) to scare them into supporting their agenda. I bet most of you do not even realize that your country is also "fracking" for oil and natural gas.
Especially Canada, but also Germany and the UK and Ireland and Denmark and the Netherlands and many others have all been doing it for many years. The US uses the newest and most sophisticated and safe methods of any country. These drillings are thousands of feet below any water levels so drinking wells are not affected.

#6 The problem with industry tools like you is, that you pretend that these "safe" methods last forever and that continuing scientific studies don't matter, once something is deemed "safe" after intense lobbying efforts. The reality is, in the long term, the danger to the environment is much higher than any other energy source. Even nuclear power is more controllable, because plants can be maintained and improved through technological progress and the energy return rate is MUCH higher. I'm not a fan of nuclear energy, but considering climate change, it's the lesser of the evils. Fracking is even worse than coal. Nobody can fix the damage caused by hundreds if not thousands of deep underground chemical leaks. Some of the casings are failing already, even though they are supposed to last at least many decades. And even if they do, what happens then? At least stored nuclear waste can be relocated and reprocessed.
The fact that U.S. oil giants managed to even get their fangs on environmentally aware nations in Europe is not a pro argument. People here in Germany have been intentionally kept in the dark and there is no legal way to fight back, because almost everything is kept secret in terms of the health risks, ecological risks, etc. so there is no case to be made until the first disasters start unfolding and the chemicals start showing up in places they don't belong.

#7 Alarmist bullcrap. The US and Canada have a very good safety record and spend tens of millions to make sure things are done right.

#14 - While I don't disagree with you, I also don't disagree with #7. We were worried about 'global coooling' last century. Now it's global warming. But please don't embarass yourself by citing Fox News as a news source. That's like a Democrat citing MSNBC - or a North Korean citing their local media in an antiAmerican argument.
Want to talk about a GREAT form of energy? Look up LFTR.

#15 No embarrassment (proper spelling) here; if not for Fox News we would never have heard of the IRS illegally targeting conservative groups or the NSA illegally spying on our e-mails and cell phone calls or all the voter fraud from the Obama gang in the last two elections or all the other scandles the major "news" sources ignore. MSNBC praises Odumbo for his handling of the Syria problem while Putin ass-rapes Obama and makes the US look like a clown.
Fox was just reporting the findings that NASA just came out with, available from many news sources.
