So this is basically paying a bet that we know what we are talking about using a theoretically correct procedure to prolong life. I don't think preserving your body and your soul are one in the same. But that is just me I guess.

Call me cheesy but I don't think I could be happy knowing that everyone I love was gone. My girl (who I want to spend the rest of my life with), my family, all my friends... I don't know.

Modern day mummification. The ancient egyptians would have loved this.

It's kind of a scam. This could be proved that is impossible in many religious ways.
But scientific ? Here's how :

Our body is nothing without water. [@ 75% of our body mass is water]
When the body is put in the freezer, the water in the body gets frozen.[No sh*t Sherlock! :)]
When water freezes, it expands and also crystalizes. So when this happens, it breaks the
membranes of your body cells, which is fatal for them. [this explains how frozen bites happen].
So when your body gets cryogenically frozen, it kills all your body cells aka your body :)

On to the other hand, studies say that there are is a species of frog that when it gets frozen doesn't die. It enters some sort of "hibernating" state, because it is not completelly frozen, compared to human cryogenics. :) more info here : http://www.treehugger.com/natural-sciences/nature-blows-mind-arctic-frogs-come-back-life-after-being-frozen-video.html

So will it be possible in the future ?

#1 Religion, souls... please. Just something to make you feel "special" as a human. You're no different than any other living creature on this planet. The closest thing to a "higher" being would be humans themselves upon creating highly advanced AI.

#3 You'll get over pretty much anything given enough time and if you're "immortal" you got plenty of that.

Personally I don't like this it's such a waste. The money some people are willing to spend on a "scam" like this just makes me sad. Imagine the good that money could do on living people around the world. Of course not, let's all just be greedy and hope we live forever.

#5 scam or not aside, you did not listen to the video did you? they are replacing the fluids in the body with a kind of antifreeze and through osmotic pressure you'll do that in the cells as well. Don't you think they know that?
The bigger Question is are they still operating in 50-100(or more years), will we ever find a way to defrost them, and will their illness be curable.

My worry (apart from spending a part of eternity upside down in a stainless steel thermos flask with several people that I don't know and several heads of other people that I don't know,)are the changes in society. Would people still be happy working in a cryogenics facility in a hundred two hundred years time. Will there be fuel for those workers to get to work in the morning. Will the area where the facility is based be subject to an earthquake making it inaccessible, will the building remain stable over the years and will anyone be bothered to repair it. Will some joker start tampering with the bodies late at night when there is nothing on television. :S

#8, Of course I listened, but CAN you replace all water in the body ? I hardly think so...

pointless from obvious reason, your memories, all those molecules and "electronic signatures" in your brain that are "you" as a person, they will be lost ( considering how fragile they are ), so even if your body can be restored in the future "you" would still be dead...

This video is so badly made that i thought it was a porn movie, just look at they're faces while the guy explains, they don't get sh*t but they approve, i was expecting they would undress and stuff, but maybe that's why they went to the "office" afterwards. Just sayin...

#7

I was referring to the known electrical energy which powers your brain and the signals that fire, that then slowly dissipate after your death.

The energy is not destroyed, but it is not present anymore within the body. I scientifically call that the soul, because it is the electrical energy that made up your thoughts and feelings and is now somewhere else.
