#(removed comment) What did you achieve for mankind? This is about his ideas, not his life. You ignorant fool.

#1. But I'm talking about his ideas. :|
He hasn't had any.
As for what I've achieved for mankind... probably nothing, rather like you... and Mr Hawking.

yeh it seems like it. that black hole is almost in any episode of any space duco. and sientist's really love to say"and even light cant escape it" but remeber that not even 20 years ago, black holes was just a myth. 15 years ago, a plausinle fact. a bit later, they found proof they exist. and maybe 10 or so years ago. they found a massive one in our own galaxy. in the centre.

- here is the famous video for the massive black hole in our milky way-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOW-NYPEp84

it seems really logic for us now. but is still one of our greatest discovery. it plays a main key role for star, galaxy, elements. life etcetcetc *-formation. so there is no way to ignore that anymore.

but that is just 1 subject of many things about mister Hawking. his duco's are legendary and most interesting. I think he is a great sientist.

#(removed comment) what always surprised me with the humanity is that ignorance always scares us and the response is violence.
The fun fact is that almost every great mind in history had to face people with those kind of reactions.
I can just hope you will look outside and talk to people with different ideas and become a better person :)

#(removed comment) Shoot yourself, you won't be missed!!
Hawkins isn't a great mind of our lifetimes, he's one of the greatest minds ever on Earth. His contributions to quantum physics, big bang theory and so on, are PRICELESS.

#3. Your use of the word 'myth' to describe black holes 20 years ago is completely wrong. A theory is not a myth, and the notion of an object with a gravity well so great that even light would not be able to escape it, had been theorized as far back as 1783 by John Michell.

Hawking just jumped on the bandwagon, and that's where he's been ever since.

#5. You won't be missed either. Dimwits never are.

#4. Thanks for your kind thoughts . I hope you'll also become a better person and start thinking for yourself instead of being spoonfed bullshit.

#6 trolls will be trolling :D
by your theory today's science is simply bs, because hey man, greek philosophers actually came up with atom theory in 6th century BCE...
as for hawking, if you can't respect him as a scientist you should at least respect him as a human being, for his strength ( in his decades long struggle with als )

#7. Plenty has been added to atomic theory since the Greeks thought it might be a neat idea. Hawking on the other hand has brought virtually nothing to the table. He just drones on and on and on and on...

Yeah it's a pity he's got motor neuron disease, but that doesn't magically elevate him to the status of hero. He's just got a disease. Shit happens.

#8 as pointed out "if you can't respect him as a scientist..."
having als ( or any other incapacitating disease or injury )doesn't make one a hero, attitude and fight one puts in to does ( in his case it was "no-win" battle from ground zero )
remember, he was not expected to see his 25th birthday and he is 70 now...
