I was expecting the whole procedure, I'm sure they must do some checking before they "flip the switch".

I'm curious if the sound is cut off half way through, or if the dead silence is a result of the reaction taking place. Just occurred to me that a photographer in a helicopter flying over Chernobyl reported a dead silence when he opened the helicopter window, not sure if this is related in any way.
