Is that a base-jump pack on his back? I hope he never has to rely on it!

I really liked a full drama documentary about first attempts to conquer the deadly north face of Eiger. You can know many survival stories, but this goes to the bones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVkJBsUSdGs

#3 - Great doc., I've seen it, but this guy did it alone "solo" (no ropes=solo), this is just insane and personally I think solo climbing is just most insane and dangerous sport out there.

He his Swiss (like me) but I guess he was born on another planet… :)

#5 Or did they take a ride up in the helicopter that was hovering overhead and recording the footage?

How do you give a thumbs down for answering another posters question? #6 & #7 just answered the guys question in a truthful manner and get voted down. WTF??? BTW, mad props to the solo climber. This is an awesome sport with incredible athletes.
