As far as I know, this is intentional and part of ship breaking. They´re trying to get the ship as far on land as they can, then they brake it up und recycle the materials.
Otherwise it would be very scary...

It's kinda sad in't it, the poor ship had no idea that this was it's final journey, it's like taking a beloved pet to be put down. I wonder if there is one particular part that the scrappers go for first? Like the safe for example.
