I think people are too busy with their personal lifes to care enough to do anything about this.
In the end, it just hurts the people who use (not abuse) this drug for whatever reason. It's so sad.

It's illegal cause it fries your brains, morons!

It floods your brain with cannabinols, the biggest group of hormones in the brain and the little we know that users suffer from IQ loss in the long run.

It is true that there are other components in Marijuana that heal, but those are extracted and used by the "evil" pharma industry.

It is true that there is few short term effects and that that leads to a whole lot of idiots thinking it's harmless. It's not!

#3 even if all you write was true, that wouldn't be enough reason to be make weed illegal.

#3 I always love the comparison to Alc/tobacco...why is that stuff legal and easy to get even at young age..but weed..woohaa..so evil..a plant that you smoke like tobacco. Sure..the smoking part is unhealthy..but the general effects? Raises appetite, calms you down, lowers blood pressure..if used in moderation. Alc and tobacco should be illegal before a teen gets called a criminal for smoking a joint. But well..just my opinion.

#5 Do you really say that drunk people are friendly all the time and go to sleep and a pot smoker gets all crazy and jumps out of a window??
Sorry..get your facts straight..im a pot smoker and willing to admit that i smoke..but i never have seen any of my friends nor myself jump out of a window. But vice versa..i have seen many of my drunk friends do some stupid shit and hurt themself. Go figure..

#3 I agree with you that weed fries your brain because many of my friends who smoke weed on a daily to weekly basis got duller :/

Alcohol and tobacco damage your health more, but they dont influence you behaviour as much as weed. Weed can make your psyche go crazy even after the drug substances left your body.

#(removed comment) drunk people run over children with their car and get into fights!

People on weed smile and eat tons of mexican food!

If there is some sort of drug that switches your body in _real_ panic mode...(anxiety, panic, adrenaline and stuff), nobody would take it, because nobody wants to feel panicked for a couple of hours.....you take drugs to feel good, not bad!

Please go educate yourself before posting this kind of bullshit!

And if something is illegal, just beacause it makes the person "less controllable", then guns and bodybuilding should be illegal as well!

If you want to get more details about the banning of cannabis and the industrial opportunities of hemp I recommend you watch this documentation (~1h):

In my opinion this video is just bulls**t!
If you compare it to other drugs like nicotin or alcohol it looks like weed being illegal doesnt makes sense. But I think the conclusion shouldnt be to legalize it. I think all drugs should be equally illegal!
Just look at the results of drugs a couple of videos before this one.
Saying this drug is less harmfull than that one doesnt matter. Keep your body clean and be thankfull for it.
After a while people are just taking them to feel like people not taking them.
thats a reason why addicts always have to increase their dose.

wait wait wait! why is he talking about hemp and marihuana? those are totaly different plants. One has high THC levels and hemp contains extremely low concentrations of THC. In europe we do grow hemp... but the junkies are always interchanging these two plants!
Picture of Akira37 achievements

+3 12. Akira commented 10 years ago

#11 It's two veriations of the same plant - hemp. You need to look at both because the ban on high-THC hemp ("marihuana";) is used to argue the ban on low-THC hemp.

Lost my focus when he started talking about lazy people. Of course it has nothing to do with marijuana, alcohol or smoking. It's a side effect of society being as bad as it is. Overpopulation being the key word. If you have no work, you have no money. If you have no money then you're stuck between a hard place and a rock. It's going to get a lot worse. The gap between the collars widens every year for the worse. Once the scale is unbalanced there will be chaos... not sure I want to be around when that happens.

#12 yes, totaly agree, but the junkies are trying to legalize high-THC hemp and are arguing with low-THC hemp as the best plant in the world.

I think this video is great.. Weed is good for sooo many things, the only reason its not legal is because of the money the government is making off it being illegal !! those bastards.. the world would be a much happier place if we would legalize it !! ;)

12 #12 Both wrong..its not 2 different plants nor 2 different variations. Its male and female plant. Its the female plant that produces big buds in flowering stage when not pollinated..thats what we potheads want. When Polinated the female plant will produce seeds. Thats what growers (and bakers) want..to do cross breeding. And the male plant is what the industrie wants..it grows pretty high like a stick..contains almost no THC and is used to make ropes, clothing isolation material etc..

I can only speak from my personal experience. I like to get high on weed. I like the feeling it calms my mind. I think using it in moderation isn't a bad thing. Does it fry your brain and makes you dumber? That's a bit tricky, because it's very hard to proof or disproof.
In my experience it doesn't make me dumber, BUT smoking everyday makes my mind foggy, it's harder for me to focus and my thoughts are all over the place and I get lazy. But not smoking for a week or two I'm back to normal. That's the negative effects I noticed when smoking too much.
I don't do this anymore. I smoke occasionally during weekends or holidays when I don't have to do much thinking and just want to chill.
The main positive effect I get isn't the high itself. It enables me to take a step back and look things from different perspectives. It's hard to explain, I guess it's a sort of a meditation for me.
Just wanted to share my thoughts on this topic.

The guy doing the audio sounds like a pot head. Get somebody on audio that doesn't sound so invested in legalization. Dr. Sanjay Gupta' from CNN is a reasonable voice for legalization for medicinal use. Marijuana is not the same as it was 20 years ago. Much more THC than before.
Smoked previously and didn't have a problem. Quit when the kid came along. Wouldn't smoke around my kid or anybody else's.
I'm for legalizing pot for medicinal use, but have come to the conclusion that it is a real bad idea for young people. Delays most all psy. and emotional development. Postpones developing emotional muscle to deal with life problems. A bad idea for young people. Life is hard enough for them without adding to all our problems.

There is considerable medical evidence that weed (lets keep it simple) can induce paranoia, schizophrenia, depression and anxiety. Smoking is not a natural process for the body and correct me if I'm wrong isn't weed usually rolled with tobacco? meaning it also includes the health risks of regular smoking as well (more actually as there is no filter involved).
There is also strong evidence that smokers of weed especially in the younger generation are more likely to experiment with stronger drugs like ecstasy, Cocaine and heroin. Comparing it to Alcohol from a legal point of view is not especially helpful as can you honestly (I mean really honestly) ever see a day when you will be able to go into Tesco's and buy it from behind the counter like cigarettes??? It's never, ever, ever, going to happen. Apart from it's seedy reputation the logistics of farming and supply would be ridiculous. At the end of the day all drugs are unhealthy. (i)

Ok #6 this is a hot discussion to join, but as a former (heavy) user of the drug I can say that the main difference to alcohol is that it takes a lot for a kid to have booze in / right after school but it takes nothing to start your day with a small joint (which may "ruin" your productive day, but you wont care because its fun and chilled).

The mental "barrier" to be stoned a lot is WAAAYY smaller than to decide: I'll get drunk now because I am bored. I knew a lot of people who ruined their lives over this stuff because they didnt get their asses in gear. Then again, I suppose alcoholism is also a big deal. But that doesnt mean legalize both (lol) if anything it means prohibit both. But we all know how that turned out.

Tobacco, I agree with you there. Quit 2 years ago after 12 years of smoking and a ban kinda makes sense, just imagine tobacco being discovered now - would it go through ? Never.

#15 Im not so sure the government is making money off it being illegal, they probably would make more money legalizing it and taxing the shit out of it like cigarettes as well as capitalizing on growing and exporting it/hemp products.

Yes the world would probably be a happier place haha but i doubt it would help the obesity epidemic because everyone will have munchies lol, but in saying that i have heard from long term pot smokers that they find weight loss is more common with long term usage than weight gain.

All in all I think the real issue comes down to abusing it like anything, and unfortunately so many people would, and it would probably impact road accidents also. I know they test for it currently with tongue scraping but if its legal more people will smoke it and more frequently, and with that comes people driving high.

Probably best to leave it the way it is and just not penalize people too harshly for it.

Well talk about drugs and everyone goes apeshit.

Weed does fry your brain if you smoke it all the time. So does booze. And cheeseburgers and chocolate bars make you fat. I know a woman that busted her liver because she had too much tea. Abuse ANYTHING and you'll get consequences.

Now weed doesn't make you violent. Pot-heads don't "jump through glass windows in stores saying the ceiling is melting" and #(removed comment) you're an idiot and you got your drugs wrong. You're probably thinking salvia or meth, and you'd be quicker to find a drunkard that hits his wife and rapes his daughter than a pot-head that gets in a fight.

It IS stupid to ban weed and allow alcohol. People should be free to do as they please, and governments are not to decide who's good and bad. You're free to tell me I shouldn't smoke (I don't BTW), but you're no one to forbid.

Everything that is done to a extrem is bad. If it's pot, sports, drink, Sex or whatever.
As long as consumed in a proper manor it's fine.
