I understand the importance of what they're trying to do here, but I just can't stand what they do to the rat - severed spinal cord, catheters inserted, wiring down its spine, surely there are paraplegic humans who would be more than willing to participate in this trial for the possibility of improving their mobility, and doing something for other sufferers, the difference being they are willing volunteers, unlike the rat.

I am not sure you can find enough people to do the work/research on. There are a lot of different things/steps that need to be tried to get to this point. To get this far how many rats do you think they used to get to this point. And this is not the only thing being study to help out people the are Paralyzed.

#1 I knew when I looked at the comments following this video that you would be here making this comment. You are always guaranteed to object to experimentation like this on a living creature that is not human. I do wonder how many paraplegics would object to this though? I am an animal lover & while rats wouldn't be my first choice as a pet, primarily due to the fact that they pee constantly. I can understand that some people love them like others might a dog or a cat. But when you consider how many of them are killed in traps or farmed as food for snakes etc. I have to say this seems to be very important work that may lead to a cure or life improvement to people who currently spend their lives in wheel chairs. It's a poor argument against. <3
