1. You need a parent to stay home all the time with the kid or have enough money to get someone to do it. 2. You can't be an architect, lawyer, economist, doctor etc. because you need a degree (and you should have a degree so the client knows you're not a "hack";).
So yeah, this is fun and shit, but it's stupid and it can't really be applied.

Self-directed learning is good to point, but there are times when kids need to learn things that aren't fun. There's a certain amount of self-discipline that needs to be engrained to be successful in anything long term.

Overall, she's a well spoken young lady. >:)

#1 you just decided that he or she want to be one of the stuff you just listed with " etc " since you went out of options - what if that person wants to be something else and be creative and innovative in many way that i cant imagine and nor can you

Everything delivered in this format ala "Ted" that is croky American voiced, lots of talking with the hands and pacing the stage is meant to lead you into a sense that whats being said is right, new or actually interesting. This is just hogshit playing about explained in a way to make it sound practical.

the biggest problem in education is the family circle, the home environment.

If these home schooled kids seem to be doing better than the average public school kid it's because their parents are heavily engage in their success.

Bullies don't wake up one day and decide "hey I should be a bully". They learned at home for years that violence and intimidation bring results.

Kids who have a hard time learning (excluding the one who have a condition) most of the time come from a household where they were never challenged, where knowledge and achievement were not celebrated.

The kind of parents a kid has will, most of the time, define the type of adults these kids will turn out to be.

It's not rocket science!

Seems to me #3 and #5 are the only ones that get it. This is a young lad brimming with confidence. He doesn't believe we all have to do what our parents do, but that we should use our own talents, to do what we enjoy doing, which for the majority of us was knocked out of us in traditional schooling. When everyone is taught the same things and told to do things whether we like them or not, we only learn the same as everyone else and learn not to speak out for what we actually want with our one and possibly only life.

But the likes of Bill Gates and Richard Branson didn't get uni degrees. They found what made them happy and did it. It takes guts to stand up in front of an intelligent audience and make an informative speech. I for one applaud him and his thoughts.

theoretically this is a good approach. let people do what motivates them.
however, you still need someone to look out for the kids (like in school) to make sure that they use their time meaningful. and you need to change the expectations from companies about school degrees. but that is already about to change since job interviews focus more on content and skills now that they did 10 years earlier

He ought to get a boy's haircut and stop wearing pink sock hats so he is not mistaken for a girl ( at least until he can grow a goatee or something ).

He's right and wrong, education for the masses cannot, in general, be customized to the degree he'd like it to be. In general you should be "educated" with some basics, but in today's education system it's not about the students, it's about the adults. Today's education system is an "adults jobs program" where the adults in the system are taken care of financially and the customers (students in their classrooms) get the final morsels in the system.

Additionally, the Federal Department of Education does not encourage a teacher teaching, they demand top down policies like No Child Left Behind, or the latest Common Core, whereas the bureaucracy decides what should be taught in the classroom not the local parents, school officials/teachers in our local schools.

Problem is, you can just hear how the text is not from him but someone made him learn it and do it. Cheap.
Like that very young girl who had "profound" and "perplexing" ideas at like 8 - right.

#11. Spot on. The kid has obviously learned a script written by daddy.
It's just a nauseating nipper without an original thought in his head.
