Of course a large American beer is still a large American beer so even if the cup actually contained more you will still be a loser in the exchange. You are getting ripped off any way you look at it.

Same problem with carbonated drinks and ice cubes in every fast food restaurants in the world. :S Try to remove the icecubes once, you will be left with half glass of Coke only !!!
It is also a well-known technique for bar tenders to serve more drinks with less alcohol.

A more entertaining comparison would have been between American beer and real beer. :|

It is like the drinks in europe (they sell at a known hamburger place) 2 x 0.5 liter is 25 cents more expensive then 3 x 0.33 liter.

For many just thinking the taller one is larger may mean they buy less than they would if they bought the shorter glass, so, thinking they're getting more they don't drink as much or get as drunk, so maybe good thing, it's still kinda crooked though :)

would like to see a regular filled up small container to see how far they fill it... the top of the container has more space than just below it so it might make the difference...

also he says 1,25 extra... extra on what? if the small is 8 and large is 9,25... that might be just about right... 2 to 3,25 is a bit too much difference.

#4 & #8 You might ought to check out which country's beers won the second most medals (37) in the European Beer Star competition.
Makes you look a lot stupid and uninformed.

Well that's just a stupidity tax, I approve. It's just like ALL advertizing in existence - if you fall for it, you deserve to be ripped off. If people pay for horoscopes, why optical illusions with cups?

#14 i dont see your point...
According to this document: "Most" US Beer sucks, the one from Oregon seems to be an exception.
"Most" German Beers are Winners.

tl;dr; [...] Of the 63 German medals, 41 go
to breweries in Bavaria, including 15 gold, 11 silver, and 15 bronze medals. This was not only
due to the 17-per-cent increase in German beers compared to 2011; after all, international
beers even increased 28 per cent. For the first time, the German breweries won gold medals
in almost all typically German beer categories.
However, the most successful brewery of the European Beer Star 2012 comes from the USA:
the Pelican Pub & Brewery from Pacific City, Oregon, with two gold and two silver medals. [....]

#16 I guess you did not bother reading enough of the results....paragraph 5

"As expected, the USA is the second-most successful country in the European Beer Star 2012. The
innovative US craft brewer scene gained 37 medals, including 14 gold medals (2011: 12) for beer
styles such as Golden Ale, Indian Pale Ale, Stout, and Ultra Strong, which are particularly popular
in the USA. The dominance of the US brewers in these beer varieties also explains why Italy's
medal result (one gold medal, four silver medals, and four bronze medals) is lower compared to
the previous year: One important reason is that the new Italian brewers also prefer outlandish
beer styles. Thus, Birrificio del Forte in Pietrasanta was the only Italian brewery to secure a gold
medal for its "Belgian Style Strong Ale"."

and i'm 6000 miles from Chico , CA :)
