This is quite interesting, when I was in school, if we got a hold of alcohol we just drank it. And I don't remember what we did with the iodine, probably because I was drunk. :P

The Headline is wrong. Iodine is fully soluble in EtOH and no reaction takes place. In this video the two solutions are made from FeCl2 and KSCN forming together red [Fe(SCN)2]4-H2O.
