Well, he is poking holes in the Lionfish... So the shark smells lunch.
But why collect them?

Big surprise......spearing fish with a shark around and it can't tell the difference between you and the wounded fish. Who'd have guessed it.......

Is it a wise idea to carry a bigger stick with sharks in the neighborhood?

Sharks are always misunderstood, this shark just wants to play. Play with his food.

#1 and #5.. the Lionfish are invasive and destroying the reefs because of their voracious appetite and the fact that they'll eat just about anything leaving nothing behind. I believe in most areas they have no natural enemies (including sharks) because they are extremely poisonous so they've partnered with divers who go out and remove as many as they can in order to re-establish the reef.

If prepared carefully I understand they are very tasty.

#7 You got it right. One thing to add is in some areas (especially where they are hunted) Lion fish didn't live there naturally. In most cases it was introduced by aquarists whose lion fish outgrew their aquariums.

#6 7 & 8 I love it when people are aware of a problem and stay informed on the course of action needed. Great info on the subject.
