Europe has two center locations. One is based on the land borders ignoring the sea, and the other based on the sea borders. In both instances the center of Europe falls within the borders of Poland. Slovakia is directly south of Poland, making it central Europe from a geographical point of view.

However from a political point of view, Germany is central Europe and anything east is Eastern Europe. Making both Poland and Slovakia part of Eastern Europe.

Personally I prefer the geographical take on things, but technically both are correct.
