Severe Autism

Warning: Severe behaviors shown. 2009 footage of California family raising complex, yet HOPEFUL case of severe autism and self-injurious behaviors. Extremely challenging situation requiring specialized care and expertise. Few experts understand this kind of autism. GENTLE, firm support, never meant to harm the person, always meant to protect. Please be aware there are ABUSIVE manipulative caregivers who should never be allowed to restrain an autistic person because they will ALWAYS take the restraining to an abusive level, instead of a helpful humane level. An abusive caregiver is hard to catch, so be careful who you hire to handle your severely autistic child.

I didn't know it was so severe at the self injury part. I don't have any children yet, so i can't really imagine how a mother and father are dealing with this in that way, tho my hearts bleeds when i see this, for all three of them... fuck, life is unfair sometimes...

I'm not surprised that you want to be so anonymous. So would I if I had a head like yours.
Be ashamed.

It's the humane thing to do. Why torture the poor cod and the family. Some of our morale standards are really torturous and hypocritical.

The ones that are hurt even more are the people who are taken care of their loved ones.

#(removed comment): it is you who has to be put down – you are more dangerous to people than the kid...
#(removed comment): spiritual is great but not in this case – the human brain is the most complex organ yet to be studied completely and we are still far way from achieving this.

I am father of an autistic girl and it is a pain to watch this kid suffer and his family since I know through what they pass and it is almost never ending sad experience.

#2 and #5 talk like there's no hope of recovery or treatment.
Try watching this video http://www.snotr.com/video/4667/Autistic_girl_expresses_profound_intelligence and then tell me again he should be "put down".
The problem is that we are yet unable to find a way to understand these cases of severe autism and a way for us to comunicate with them and them with us. That's where the effort should be, I think.

if he was born like that its not spiritual probable a curse from passed generations, if he was normal and this happened could be spiritual or a physiological breakdown but many times have I see people be possessed like this and casting of the demons works a lot im speaking with experience.

#14 DetectiveBlack.
I'd already checked that, so it isn't news to me. I'm not trying to hide anything - I have nothing to be ashamed of. Can you say the same? I'm guessing by the fact that your comment was deleted that maybe you did regret your disgraceful comment - if it was you who deleted it and not a mod.
My comment stands - be ashamed.

#15. I know it's not news to you Bloodbeast.
You choose to remain anonymous, as do I.
But if, as you say, you are truly not trying to hide anything, then why not publish your full name address, nationality , phone number etc. etc??? What are you afraid of?

Incidentally, if you think I deleted my own comment (of which I am proud), then you do not understand how snotr works. Perhaps you'd like to attempt to delete one of your own comments and then you might understand.

SNOTR. The website where you can express your opinion and comment on any video. ............ (as long your view coincides with the views of the ubergrupenmerator).

Laziness doesn't imply fear. I haven't bothered to fill them in - not the same as actively trying to be anonymous. Perhaps you're the same.
I would amend your final comment ever so slightly:
"SNOTR. The website where you can express your opinion and comment on any video. ............ (as long your view coincides with the views of decent humanity)."
And it's interesting that you choose a pseudo-German (Austrian?) phrase to try to justify your vile eugenic comment...
Be ashamed.

Medical Marijuana may be a help to him...(and I'm not talking about smoking it) - there are so many other ways to get the benefit from it without negative psychoactive effects.

Not sure if I agree with the family releasing this video to the public. I mean, how would you feel if the entire world could watch you in your darkest moments, hitting yourself repeatedly, because your parents decided so? I have had my share of late teens/early 20s depression, and there is no reason people with autism cannot have it, and have symptoms show up in a more graphic way. If you think about it, how much more depressed and angry at the world and yourself would you be, if you had autism on top of everything else? It does not need much more than common sense sometimes, even if the subject is very special and the condition would seem to suggests more than that. Of course, it could be side effects of medication, a change in his condition, even things like the weather, whatever - but you should really consider the most obvious explanation first. At least that's what seems the most logical to me as a relatively neutral observer.

"Laziness doesn't imply fear."
Quite so. Ah well, you got there in the end eh?

I'm happy with my final comment: "SNOTR. The website where you can express your opinion and comment on any video. ............ (as long your view coincides with the views of the ubergrupenmerator)."

I that sums up SNOTR prefectly. Your disingenuous response to my pseudo-German word does you no credit, but I'll spell it out if I must. 'Ubergrupenmerator' is used to emphasise the Nazi-like authoritarian moderation process on this site. I've even had comments removed for simply stating that a video is boring. Sad eh? "You Vill Agree Viz Uz Or Ve Vill Ban You. Ja!"

It has nothing to do with eugenics, and neither does my original comment. The boy would be better off dead. And ending every reply with the words "be ashamed" is touching, but rather sad also. Pity you can't think of anything sensible to say to someone who holds a contrary opinion to your own. Or maybe you truly believe that the rest of the world could never aspire to be as 'decent' as yourself? Now that truly is sad.

Be ashamed. :)

#20 "Nazi-like authoritarian moderation" You know that comments with a minus 20 rating get automatically removed, right? And if you dont like most of the videos or how the site is moderated..why do you keep comming back?

He needs to be put to sleep. He's genetical material is obviously not good enough for a self sufficient life. Right!?

If I would have one like that, I would just go to a field with my gf and just.. you know.. let him to run free.

This video has awakened too many trolls. I don't know if they think they're being amusing, but they certainly don't amuse me. This is a tragic subject. I share the view of #19 schlafanzyk that perhaps the family misjudged the release of this video, or perhaps only the reaction of some of the viewers, but their situation should be treated with respect, not as an opportunity to release vituperative comments.
