“I fear the day technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.”
? Albert Einstein
i'm not sure that this quote was actually said by Albert Einstein, but even so, it is the perfect quote for this short video.

#2 Quoteinvestigator says it's not from Albert Einstein. The original author is unknown.

I think people who downvoted this are probably the ones he's talking about in the video. It can be scary when someone points out your dependencies... When I'm with someone, i don't sit and check my phone for facebook or whatever, i keep it in my pocket until it rings or i get a msg. Then i look who it is, and what it's about, before i choose whether to interrupt my current company with it, or not. And if someone is visiting me, and starts messing with the phone, i say "put that shit away, or go home and play".

420 "friends" is where it starts to be totally wrong. You have 420 contacts. No single person on this planet has 420 friends, as in people you care about and you would anything for.

The newest generation seems to have less and less problems with the social media. It is a poison, if the dosage is too high, but Social Media is not the problem - boredom is. We live in a time where people have forgotten, what they can do with their time and turn on the tele or browse the net waiting for some input, something funny. Having 420 contacts and thus always someone to go out with, have a good time without any electrical device being necessary is awesome and I have a feeling that kids are learning to use this new developments just right.

Society will change, not for the better, not for the worse, just change and we will need some time to adapt.

Answer your phone when you are alone. If you are together with friends, the caller can wait. Why shit on your friends for at single-person-call?

#6 Ignoring a call when you are with friend is not the right thing to do imo. It could be something important, an accident maybe, another friend who needs you to be there for her/him, or even a matter of life and death, so answer your phone in w/e situation you are in or you could regret it for the rest of your life, if it wasnt anything important tell him/her that you´ll call back, no biggy. On the other hand, texts and notifications from apps can wait.

#7 No, you should ignore calls when with friends\family. How many IMPORTANT calls do you receive?
You are addicted, my friend. Realize it... Do you also sleep with your mobile in "sound mode" (or what to call it)? No where on earth I will risk being woken up for a phone call or at text.
If it is important, I will find out soon enough, or just text me. “Dog died, plz. call”.

#9 i think #7 is right. If its an incomming call its not rude or anything if you take a look who is calling and then reject them if its not important. "How many important calls you get?" thats the point..you dont get important calls every day..do you want to miss it when its important? Facebook/whatsapp sure can wait..but also then its not rude to just take a glance whats up and lay the phone down again. A short glance at the phone is as rude as looking at the phone to see what time it is. Its rude to start a chat then..but a simple look at the phone to see if its important..not that rude in my opinion.
And what do you do when the phone rings? Leave it ringing in the pocket? Its faster to look and reject then let it ring in your pocket for minutes. But thats just my opinion. (no..im not social media addicted..only a bit internet addicted)

In general I agree with the message of the video, but it's drowning in hyperbole. In times of personal interaction, please put the electronic devices away. This concept is nothing new though. I see it the same as someone reading a book or newspaper in the middle of a conversation.

"Sell your computer and buy a wedding ring"...give me a break, that's a bit over dramatic. So technology is destroying the human ability to fall in love?...geez get over yourself.

Here's the thing. People have been complaining about how kids spend their time since there were kids to be bitching about. Ipads, then video games, then TV, then radio, then movie shows/theater, playing marbles, throwing rocks at mammoths. Whatever it is that kids do that occupies a sizable chunk of their time, will be frowned upon by everyone else who doesn't occupy their time doing that thing.

you can have an ipad and still go out and play. A smart phone is a tool to use, and doesn't have to make you a social outcast. What pretentious piece this was. Mind your own business, and stop wasting time making videos judging people and go spend more time with your family.
