#1 for real rifles they use walnut wood, but based on color and texture, i would say this is either poplar wood or paulownia :)

That guy is really skilled at a bandsaw (or at woodwork in general)..when i used to work with a bandsaw i just roughly cut out the general shape and file the rest down by hand..that guy not just only draw the lines without ruler..he also did most of the shaping directly on the saw...thats harder then it looks..
Comes in handy to be good at working with power tools..such craftsman (be it blacksmith, carpenter, engineer) really earn much respect.
