Crazy how everything is about your MENTAL. Notice how he rubbed his ass before jumping and...failed.
Fear/Hesitation decreases your chances of success.

Sadly...the last time I was on a diving board I came of worse than he did, and it was only a bloody 1 metre board at that. For whatever reason my leg just collapsed..I fell from the board bouncing of the edge (on my spine) as I did so, only to do the same thing with the edge of the pool (never do things by half...right?). Two permanent curvatures of the spine later....11 months in traction, but the nurses were...'ahem'...friendly shall I say ;-). I was 16 years old then, and I still have back related problems, and I'm now 62. I'll go on a board still, but no bloody way will you get me up there like him!!

Are you referring to the bubbles under the dive platform
that allow the diver to better judge distance?
