Coca-Cola 2nd Lives

As part of its global sustainability program, Coca-Cola has launched '2ndLives', a line of 16 innovative caps which can be screwed onto bottles after consumption, transforming them into fun and useful objects, such as a paintbrush, water squirter and pencil sharpener, among others, and encouraging consumers to reuse and recycle plastic.

But wouldn't it help not to drink the sodium-enriched, sugar-laden soda? I like Coke and have it once in a while, but when they go on such long-winded feel-good-excuses, it just puts me off.

Have a Coke once in a while and don't use it as replacement for daily intake of water and nothing wrong will happen to the environment.

Recycling is great. But putting inedible or even poisonous stuff into bottles that usually contain food and then not even marking them is a very bad idea.

They need a refill program as well. Once I have five reusable coke bottles, I'll start throwing the other ones away.

It's easy to be cynical about this initiative, and i do agree with most of what's said in the comments above, but those bottles are here so why not make the most of them.
