maybe his father wouldn`t have managed to be a commediant at all, not for 12 years. i think there is wisdom you may get from the successful people and "wisdom" you should at least doubt. we should be aware of the much more many cases of failure, that are hidden, than successes, but nobody talks about them. i suspect jim`s father had a family when choosing to be an accountant and jim was a teenager comediant with no responsibilities when having first succeses and earn money. i admire and respect both.

I have no qualification or right to explain what Jim Carrey is saying here but I believe he is absolutely right. How many people today are wasting their precious lives on this planet doing jobs they don't enjoy, often based on some momentary decision made when they were teenagers? How many more people are spending their precious lives chasing some religious ideal in some cases dying for their beliefs. Stop for another minute in your short lives and think what if this is it, nothing more, Imagine!!!

As I see it, it's about what people are or are not going to regret on their death bed. Most of them would like to rewind and review an adventure action movie of their life with lot of moments to remember and be able to say that it was a good life. Unfortunatelly, I am afraid that many people would consider their life wasted at it's end. They might have been considered successful in their job, provided for their family but might have forgotten to live one day after the other. Be cautious about this it's really easy to get distracted by "more important stuff". The wake-up call comes with any serious illness or personal loss in life. Don't worry, be happy - we are dead already.

I have to say that I've always thought that Jim Carrey has to be an intelligent human being - I could never remember and deliver lines as he and other actors can - but his face-twisting performances in his "comedy" films make me weep with embarrassment. He can be a good actor (Eternal Sunshine, maybe Truman), but the gurning stupidity in *all* the others...
And yet:
"You can fail at what you don't want".
Yes. Good advice. Maybe not practicable for everybody because of personal circumstances, but if it makes a few people make successful choices?
If *he* wrote that, and not one of his writers, respect...

This is exactly what I needed to hear today! Had a really messed up day yesterday and this is the message that I needed to wake up. Now I know what to do.
