I can't get my brain around how you would teach a child of that age three different languages that she can just switch between in fluent conversation. Makes me feel rather inadequate. Unfortunately I am a Bilingual illiterate I can't read or write in two different languages. I'm also Bisexual..Twice a year I buy sex >:)

#5 Well I grew up in South America with a British mother and a French father and that did the trick. Now that I am a bit older I realise how lucky I am, in other circumstances it would have taken me ages to learn all three languages.

...where I come from it is not unusual the kids to know 3 languages. 3-4 languages you learn at school+life, 5 and more langauges for adults is considered to be very smart.

#5 Don't feel bad, it's actually much easier for a child to learn several languages in a home environment than it is for an adult in any environment.

#5 Kids are extremely good at listening to the melody and pace of a language and deducing patterns that they can parse into meaning.

I moved around a lot in my childhood. As a result, I am fluent in 4 languages and it's always been easy for me to learn new ones -- even Japanese! -- and I can recognize and differentiate at least two dozen more even though I don't speak them.
