I think I understand #1 in the sense that people should be giving the snakes more breathing room and not pick them up like that without knowing what impact it can have on the animals.

i am inclined to argue that the fear and misinformation surrounding "snakes and other animals" is of a far greater detriment then the attitude of exploration, investigation, and understanding these children are fostering. please understand #1, i appreciate your sentiment, but the context in which the Manitoba wildlife conservation approaches these animals should be considered. http://www.gov.mb.ca/conservation/wildlife/spmon/narsnakes/

You'd be wise to fear snakes they're not toys and most of them are dangerous or even deadly. Imagine picking your 4 year old kid to go see those snakes, they play around with them and having fun. Then you go home and your kid is playing around in the backyard, along comes a snake that "looks" like one of those. You can see where I'm going with this. Some animals should just be avoided. Let them live their life and you live yours, that's the best way.

That's an amazing place to learn more about snakes and wildlife in general we have here in Canada, yet it's the first time I hear about it... Shame on me :'(
#5 That might be true about snakes in most part of the world, but I've never heard about that many dangerous snakes that survive canadian winters ;) Turns out there is only four:
