Wow, that's a lot of thoughtful consideration for his opponent. I wish more competitors were like him. I don't think however that just because a fighter doesn't forfeit to an outmatched opponent that it automatically means they are a poor sportsmen, because ultimately they came there to compete and to win.... but what this guy did was a unique and very nice thing to do.

What a great moment of moral character!

And of course, he is Asian. They even clean up after themselves after watching a game.

Amazing thing to do. I only hope the loser I mean winner learns from this and doesn't get his head knocked off by the next guy who won't be so charitable :S

That was very decent thing for the Filipino fighter to do. No sense causing more damage
to a guy who just will not go down.

The announcer on the right (Bas Rutten) was one badass in the ring when he was competing.

Ok I know that fight. When you mentioned a green outfit I remembered it,
but not from being on snotr. He slapped the snot out of Masakatsu over and over
and then finished him with a knee to the face. (it left a mark) :x
It starts getting good at about 16:40

#9 "Oriental" is used to describe rugs and vases, not people. His name is Yoshihiro Takayama . He is a professional wrestler in Japan, and quite well known there. However he is possibly the worst MMA fighter to have ever stepped in the ring, but he sure can take a beating.

#14 Don 't try to be a word Nazi. When used a a noun Oriental means someone from the Orient.
Your definition was an example of it being used as an adjective. (i)
It would have been more correct if I had not used the word "fighter" after Oriental.

#15 You're right, it can be used as a noun. There are a lot of offensive terms that are nouns. I don't see your point. I was nice about it, but go ahead down vote. It's not an appropriate word to use in modern times to refer to someone of Asian decent, that was my point. It is outdated and offensive to many, including myself...that's all.

#16 A mullet isn't an appropriate haircut for modern times either, but look at you. :D
Without already knowing whether that fighter was Chinese,Japanese,Korean, etc.,how would you
make reference to him? East Asian?
I have never heard of "Oriental" being used as a slur by anyone, but I will take your word for
it and refrain from using it on snotr in the future.
Are there any of Asian descent here who find "Oriental" offensive? Just curious......

#17 Thanks for the polite response. It's a word that I am in particular sensitive to. On the scale of offensiveness it's about a 2 out of 10...so not that bad. Its offensiveness stems mostly from the time period when it was used most. Back when Asia was often referred to as "The Orient", wasn't exactly a great time for Asians in the west. They were mistreated, indentured, and discriminated against heavily all while being labeled with the name Oriental. I'm guessing Chinese Americans are probably the most sensitive to it. There are way worse terms people use. Most people not exposed to Chinese or Asian Americans on a regular basis would probably never know they could be making someone cringe by using the word. If I see it used and I have an opportunity to politely inform someone that it might not be seen as a nice word then I try to do it. Not using it can help others like myself from making incorrect assumptions too. Thanks again for the leveled response, proving once again the snotr community is really great overall. Oh and the mullet is timeless..lol
