The driver schools should have more about car vs bike and other situations, almost always car vs pedestrian or car vs other motor vehicle.

Some people should never get a driving license. There would be less accidents and less traffic as more people would have to use public transport which in effect would make it more on time. It would be nice but it's utopia.

That really makes me sick. But that's the daily insanity you get used to, when you ride a bicycle... :'(

two sides to this, a small number of bad bikers give all us bikers a bad deal. red lights, pedestrian crossings, junctions rules of the road do apply to these few morons and the rest of us pay the price with road rage, right transport wrong rider.

Really bad road skills, undertaking not looking ahead. I don't have a lot of sympathy for this person. It is almost like they can't wait to be mantas. Go and do a CBT test on a motorbike and realise you are not much different.

#5 don't cross a solid line! he didn't...

I ride a fair amount of miles a year and he's not totally clean from fault on some of these. It appears he rides less defensively than he should in some cases and others (the near head on cases) he might benefit from having a really bright strobe front light to increase his visibility. I suspect there are not a lot of cyclists on these roads and right or wrong, the drivers are looking for large mass vehicles and the cross-section of a cyclist is really small and difficult to see. Ride defensively, assume the SOB is not going to stop or yield to you. You can be right and you can be dead right. When you have this many close calls you have to step back and reevaluate how YOUR riding, it's your job to keep yourself safe.

The ones where he's overtaken and merged into are complete BS and those people should lose their license!

Both head-ons (one near miss, one hit) note where his shadow is, the cars are looking into a low bright sun. Make sure they see you, bright strobe front light is imperative.

#5 I thought the same thing, blowing through a Yield sign without slowing down on a somewhat blind intersection, not smart.

BTW driving with a camera only documents the crash, not saying it's not smart, I've thought of buying one myself but it doesn't give you teflon in a crash.

After several failed attempts he finally manages to injure himself. Good job.

The cyclist reminds me of this guy: http://www.snotr.com/video/13084
(but not in a funny way)

Also from the way he ignores "give way" signs and then yells at cars it looks like he is trying to prove something. Only a complete idiot tries to ignore laws of physics and prove he is more right the cars that have 150-300 times his mass.

@snotraddict: I agree with you. I have rode bicycle a long time and I know it's necessary to slow down in every potentially conflicting situations. Sometimes the other drivers are distracted or overwhelmed by too many simultaneous potentially dangerous situations. In the case of the last crossing and the consequential accident, the driver may have been obliged to take a too quick decision to cross the road.

Something similar happened to me decades ago, the car had to cut my the way, the driver saw me, I saw him, he probably thought he have enough time. Simultaneously, some pedestrian crossing a road in front of him obliged the car to stop in the middle, cutting my way... I crashed on the car! Even I wasn't my fault anyway, I learned then I'd better ride slower to be able to stop anywhere anytime.

Nowadays in every potentially conflicting areas, I take a higher view and a slower ride, I can still ride faster in the places where I am alone. I am also very cautious about the cars' doors, because people often get out their cars without looking before opening their doors! Anticipation is the key word in every situation, your rights are another problem.

@remington: You're wrong, it's completely out of the problem depicted there. A clear bad behavior - not depicted in this short video - from one or two bicycles doesn't gives you rights to make the others pay. Road rage is a kind of psychological illness, in the bikers, the drivers and in the riders. I may go further: you may be less in danger crossing on red lights and riding anywhere if you are much more cautious than the guy who has filmed his rides!!! You have to look, look, everywhere every time, that's the most important thing. The law may come after, if an accident happen, or if a policeman catch you (and he has rights to do so!).
The risks taken by this bicycle make me wonder if this guy has already a kind of road rage. Does the video has been made in a one or two days of riding, or is it in one month of everyday riding?

@ImprsdBySmartVid- RE: last crossing. Perhaps, that does happen, it's interesting to watch the shadow line cross the car as they progress in their right turn. I believe the sun was in their eyes and probably didn't see the bicyclist until they were in the middle of the lanes with no time to react and yes, especially if there was oncoming traffic.

Looking back on my record, most of the handful of close calls were usually something stupid I did so I think this guy needs to take a look at his riding habits and make some changes. Several areas in the video I was uncomfortable while watching which is your internal safety radar going off.

terrible cyclist. you see these situations a mile away and yet he still drives there like he owns it. also a terrible design of road. who design this?!? to put a cyclist in the middle of the road is just mental. there are easier ways to make it saver and not expensive.

I think we all started off wrong when we decided to mix cycles with cars in the first place. And its not about who is right or wrong, but rather the reality of a potential incident and the damage that can occur. No matter what laws and lanes we make, the impact of a cyclist with a car always favors the car and the driver. Maybe a totally separate line and road for cyclist would be ideal, tho hard to just whip up over a night of course, but in the long run might be the best solution for everyones safety. Its also viable to divide an entire lane into two smaller lanes, one for cycles and one for motorcycles. Something at least, anything other than the way its now, i see too many accidents, and not at least potential accidents.

Mixing bikes and cars is ok when you're in a city center (~30 km/h). These roads should have separate bikeways.

I like the bicycle roads in Holland. They are safe and keeps you away from the road traffic. I think the other countries should take The Netherlands as an example when they want to construct bicycle roads.

I'm listening to a police scanner right now and a call came in - hit and run man down on a bicycle. So many are killed on bikes, they're just too hard to see and sometimes bicyclists don't follow the rules of the road.

Bikes are not cars. You are slower, less visible to drivers, and have no protecive covering to protect you from other vehicles. Attempting to meld into traffic and immitate a motor vehicle is stupid. This guy found that out the hard way.

Ahhh, Australia - where even the traffic tries to kill you.
