That's right 'rice crispies' (UK) not popcorn. The rice is heated, then the sudden release and cooling makes the rice puff up

I've seen a lot of gadgets and tools and machinery, and usually i have a good understanding for how it works. On this one, i'm lost, wtf is actually happening...?

#4 ah, i didn't notice the hyperlink, thx. Found a video after a few clicks that showed it a bit clearer. I thought the machine was getting the corn/rice fed through a system, but i see now that the entire container is filled up and pressurised. This is the one i saw which i felt made it a bit clearer to me, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyJoqS__7O0

actually this isnt very fast. Mythbusters covered this, and while it looks really awesome, it took about 7min to build up enough pressure. So it would be a lot faster to make pop corn the old fashioned way.
