The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow will become - Kingdom Hearts.
Always liked that quote and now it's explained outside it's analogical meaning.

the shadow across the moon example is actually an illusion of darkness moving when in fact, its just different beams of particles being blocked in quick succession as you move your finger, the the different trajectory of the particular beams blocked is what give it the appearance of distance traveled. So its not really darkness travelling at all, its just some darkness no longer existing, while new darkness is created, in such rapid succession that it creates the illusion of darkness in motion.. much like a flip book works for animating images. Granted, it APPEARS to be darkness traveling over the lunar surface faster than the speed of light, but what we see is not always the reality of it.
