Well, he is pretty much making a key to fit it tho, not what i would call lockpicking. Im curious if he could use the same fake key on any of the locks, or if it only worked on this one?

#2 He used the same key for 2 different locks, it is quite obviously universal! I would like to know if it can be busted open though.

He can do all this technical stuff but he can't edit a video >:)

#2 Its a simple Bumpkey..will work on any of the "Forever locks" (as showed in the video)..another kind of lock..another bumpkey. It falls also under the term lock-picking..but its the fast and dirty method. Same as an electric pick or a pick pistol works. I did lock picking (speed lock picking) as hobby..also got a set of bumpkeys for all the common door locks here in europe. Scarcy how fast you can open usual doors..but a nice partytrick too (or when you lost your keys after a party)

#4 i thought lock picking was the art of opening a lock without leaving a trace and using any keys (or duplicates). I dunno, thats what i read into it, kinda lays in the wording if you ask me. Brute forcing something open isn't what i would define as lock picking. But you're saying that these locks all have almost the exact same key? It just seems a bit strange to me, thats all.

#6 You can look at lock picking in two ways. The art of using tools to open a lock without leaving a trace. Or the art of opening a lock without the correct key (other than brute force like kicking the door down).

Bump keys are a common technique to open locks. You need a key that will fit into the lock. The key is then prepared in a certain way. From that point onwards, you need to apply a force to the back of it (a bump) to force the pins in the lock to align and open.

All the keys for the forever lock are the same shape. They just have a different pattern of teeth or holes on them. This applies to any lock ever made.

Have a read on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lock_bumping

Bump keys are made for all kinds of locks. But this lock is supposed to be "pick" proof. How ever he has shown that it can be "bumped". How its open matters not. It is not using brute force as it does not harm the lock. It just makes the pins jump into alignment. There are locks that can not be bumped. They have dampeners that prevent fast movement of the pins.

#7 thx for the reply, i thought this was gonna ruin the lock, but you're probably right, and the dampers info was nice to know :)

Locks only keep honest people out........there is NO SUCH THING as a lock or safe or Vault that is impossible to pick/open

Bumpkey could never work on any high security locks, in other words "Forever Lock" is just your average lock with a fancy looking key.

We did a tv report about bike theft a couple years back. Thiefs specialize into locks nowadays. if you have a nice bike you will buy a trelock or a abus lock over here, which is exactly why thiefs prepare themselves for those locks.

the next video claiming to have an unpickable lock will make people buy this shit and the moment you see it on every corner thieves will carry around bumpkeys for it. The safest lock is one that is pretty good, but scarce and in no way similar to other locks.
