Barriers don't kill people, religious zealots kill people.

I watched this for the crash. Who cares about a steel post? Concrete blocks are better because they are temporary and can be moved with a forklift.

#3 I can't be sure but this barrier looks like it doesn't need to be fixed to the ground, so it might be just as portable as concrete blocks. Even if you'd need a crane rather that forklifts.

#1 Nutjobs who try to ram buildings plan on dying but they want to take you with them. This device limits their ability to do that.

#(removed comment) Really?!?!?!? I have only two questions for you: Did they find all the parts that flew off when you hit the barrier? AND Are the still functional after being sewn back on?

#5 Quite the contrary, it looks like its buried into a concrete rectangle slightly larger than the barrier itself. My Guess would be that it probably goes 10 feet down....

People ramming their vehicles into buildings is a common thing? I'm sorry I just don't get it. Some of you people make it sound like this happens all the time.

#8 It looked like it was on a big steel plate on the ground. Most likely firmly attached, tho it did look like it jumped a bit. The bar itself must be solid steel or something along those lines. Can you imagine the weight of that thing.

#6 You don't think they'd pick other ways to do their madness? It's not like this thing would be invisible. Worst case scenario the crazy person might actually *think* before they do something - which is an even worse scenario than them ramming into this barrier.

I wonder how many you need to cover the whole building.

#9 i wasn't gonna comment on this video first, but yea, this device is an anti terror device. Sad, and scary, and no, its not something i would call normal, as the only scenario i can think of with this device, is to stop suicide bombers, and thats it. Shitty stuff...

#6 Sometimes there is some people who loses control of there car ... they can be killed by this barrier. But if we use a barrier that stops the whole vehicle, accident en ram are stopped without killing anyone.
I don't understand why this barrier has to be deadly.

why not just plant a pfew trees?. they are pretty effective against traffic. if there is room for a huge barrier like this, then there is also room for a tree.

#15 ... yes, plant trees... and in 30-40 short years your building will be safe.

I thought it was apparent that this device is to be used to protect high-value buildings (like embassies) from Islamic suicide bombers who ram trucks and cars loaded with explosives into them. Since that is one of their favorite methods of killing people , this should help stop them.

Looking at the height of the cross-beam any low 'sports car' would pass underneath with no problem.

#18 The barrier uses a 12-inch-wide solid steel tube that stands about three feet off the ground and runs 17 feet from end to end. It’s embedded into a foundation that’s just 18 inches deep, compared to the several feet required by some other barriers. This makes it more suitable for use in cities with underground utilities and other buried obstacles.
That only leaves an opening of about 24" beneath the tube...so what sport car fits under that?
