This isn't evolution, this is breeding.. Like a Chihuahua, my cat could kill a Chihuahua without even knowing it's a "dog".. >:)

I think that some animals (probably some birds) have similar ability. It last longer ane it makes them pretend to be dead and predator will ignore them.

Haha! I remeber watching a clip of the goat falling with its legs up in the air a few years ago. The title was: "for no apparent reason, this goat drops dead" Man, I laughed for days at it.

The goats were actually bred to passout like that. They used to put them with other livestock (cows, horses, etc.) so if a predator attacked (cougar, wolves, bears) the rest of the herd could get away while the goat was basically screwed and got eaten.

Agree with SeanConnery in 9, that's where the term 'scape goat' is thought to have originated.

#8 you are absolutely right about breeding them for keeping other livestock alive.

#10 not even close. "Scapegoat" originates from a millenias-old ritual of releasing sin through the use of a captive goat being forced to run away from the town/village and take everyone's sins with it.

They were bread that way on purpose. they are mixed with other, more expensive animals, since they are cheep, and when a wolf or something attacks, they faint and the more expensive animals wouldn't get eaten.
Mike Rowe (on Dirty Jobs) went to a farm with 30-40 of them and thats where I found out that ^.
