Yeah - because all other animals can influence their evolution based on what they see? Give me a break.


And to the OP - clams and mussels are not the same. Mussels are almost always attached to a substrate, clams are almost always free swimmers that bury themselves in sediment. There are possible excpetions, but as the narrator even gives you the species, it's just laziness calling it a clam in the title.
