what a pity, people are getting ridiculed in this "Idol" show over and over again. They shouldn't broadcast such stuff.

#2 I know what you mean but of filming. So that it can be shown over and over. I mean she should have been prepared to demonstrate her show in front of the public regardless of how good or bad her performance is.

The irritating thing with this kind of audition isn't that it's a sub-par singer.

The irritating thing is that no-one stopped her before she went on national TV and embarrased herself nationally. :'(

You'd think that anyone that cares for her, like friends or family, would have said something! :O

The term 'tough love' comes to mind! A little old commodity that nowadays people seem to be, foolishly, affraid to administor. :D

@2 I completely agree, the show is supposed to be about finding talent, not exploiting those are so deluded that think they have it. Most of the people that they show doing awful acts are obviously in some way mentally challenged and its upsetting to watch. People that purposefully do it to get on TV should just not be shown either.

god I could rant about this so much.

I think the show is a load of rubbish

@9 they show it on purpose.

Why ? So that other fools would chicken out by the reaction of commentators on internet and possibly by the view from aside, looking at themselves.

Imagine how many people the judges have to audition - everybody has equal rights, you cannot separate people by "i like you, pass through, i dont like you, get out".

Anyway - it's good to see, how the world is - not only beautiful, pretty, witty smart people. It's reality, bad performances show WHAT good performances are, just like without cold water there would not be hot water.

Most of the judges are impolite, and tell stuff like "you look like a man (to a woman)", just point-blank.
OK, we know it's hard to be a judge, watching 300 auditions a day, but come on - make a POLITENESS sport out of it. Find some greatness in your heart, explain the poor person (who is usually on psychological edge) what he/she could improve, or give them an example of what the judges expect.

The main idea of the show - it's great, it's just that staff and the rules are not that clear. Pity.

It's very interesting to have a show like these. It's the better way to see how people can make fool of themselves AND the ambition they get to get more ridiculous.
The best way to avoid being stupid in front of millions is to see a professional FIRST. If you think you can sing go and take a test with someone who REALLY CAN SING. 1.If the bathroom gives you a good resonance of your voice or the mirror, 2.if your family says to go at the contest, 3.if your friends advise you to do the same thing... well which way is the wrong one:

1.Not the best places to test your voice.
2.Maybe your family wants the best for you - well it's not always correct.
3.Maybe you have good friends who want to help you or MAYBE NOT (think of the second one).

A professional singer, a music teacher are always the best way to test your skills. If they're satisfying enough THEN you should try at the contest.
I'm saying all of this because the naivety almost got me in the same position as the person in the clip.

#13 I agree with you but there are some drawbacks. Some people think too highly of themselves and if they think they are satisfying when they are bad, it can be a double edger sword.

So i guess the best way is to judge it in different perspectives. From your own perspective and other people(even if they cannot always be trusted). It is better than nothing.
