And people say talk is cheap. Beautiful use of words. This should be shown in schools.

#(removed comment) you do realize that TED talks are more about the information presented than the presenters looks.

#8 Sure I do , but to me his sloppy appearance shows some self-loathing and he likely has a lack of self-esteem.
But he is a poet and so many of them turn to poetry to give voice to their inner demons.
Seems to be working for him.

#9 we are all individuals, we express ourselves in many different ways. I don't think you're intelligent enough to understand his talk, too many big words for ya buddy. perhaps just stay quiet in future!

#12 Trollboy , oh yea , you are a great judge of intelligence aren't 'ya.
Maybe you see yourself in him,but I was never the loser type he portrays.
Listening to that guy go on and on about his own inadequacies just does not
interest me. (and he looks like a slob)

#13 It's ok to be insecure about yourself, don't worry I'm sure someone, somewhere thinks your worth something

#14 Insecure? I have been with the same girl since 1970, so unlike you I have no problem with
insecurity, plus I am not British.
If this overweight, sloppy looking guy can make a living giving talks about how lousey his life has been
then more power to him, but I get nothing from his self-abasement.

#16 Everything you just said just adds to your insecurity and what does having a girlfriend/wife have to do with your own self worth other than nothing. At your age you certainly should know better.

#18 My age tells me I am correct about you trolling this site as an ignorant boy.
You need to return to your mum's secure basement where you probably live.
You offer nothing to this site except your unasked for comments.

#19 Calm down grandpa. I also wonder what does having the same wife for 40 years have in common with self esteem. Besides HE is the one having a speech on TED and YOU are the one posting hateful comments on a website and you say he's a looser type. Well guess what you are then

#20 Anonymous , being secure in your marriage , your job ,and your faith keeps you from becoming an insecure person.
I have all three going for me,and that makes me feel very secure, thank you.
Describing the speaker in this vid as looking like he needs a haircut and a bit of work on his nasty-looking unkempt beard is not hateful speech. Instead it would be helpful speech and good advice if he would take it.
I realize that on a site that is heavily populated by atheists, pro-gay agenda people, and socialists (Europeans), that not all my views on things are popular but that does not change my opinions.

#21 The TED talk had to do with bullying and labelling people and, HOW IT'S WRONG.The funny thing is, your first reaction was throw labels at him and bully him on his looks...

#22 I try not to take advice from a guy who has so little respect for his audience that he shows up on stage looking like he just
crawled out of bed and looks like a pedo-bear. You guys can have him all to yourselves.
I did not bully him, I gave a critique of his sloppy appearance.
