What happens if you scream out of a window in Sweden at 10 PM

Beginning in the 1970s, students in the Flogsta neighborhood of Uppsala, Sweden started sticking their heads out the window at 10PM every night to scream into the darkness. It’s a veritable symphony of woe. Apparently it began in the 1970s and has been going on — no joke — every single night since it started. Some reports say it began as a stress reliever during exam times, others say it was in honor of a student who committed suicide.

Whatever the case, it’s a pretty cool tradition and way to let off steam, even if the rest of us will still feel a little scared when it happens.

Beware of the Youtube "first" comments effect :D

Imagine being a tourist flying in from the other side of the planet to visit Uppsala, Sweden (which btw. hilariously translates to "Whoops!, Sweden" in German) and just having watched some kind of zombie apocalypse flick while in the air. You arrive at the hotel at, let's say, 8:30pm. You then get something to eat and by 9:45pm decide to go for a walk back to the hotel - only to encounter this. I would probably shit myself.

We had a similar stress relief "tradition" in the campus of UBB university in Cluj-Napoca/Romania in 2000s. Periodically at around 10-11pm some nut head student would open a window and scream "Andreea Marin !!!" (the name of an attractive host of a popular TV show) and that would start a chain nut head reaction..

Almost have to wonder if this was the Swedish answer to the movie Network, and it's "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" scene? (Movie was released in 1976....)
