It appears that this design is using a swivel where the hose connects to the shaft rather than a pump. If that's the case then this pump design depends on the hydrostatic of the fluid in the 4 rounds of the coil, each perhaps ~0.5m high. This would mean that the "pump" could not move the fluid higher than 2m.

A better, similar, design would have the same water wheel frame with paddles powering/rotating a fluid pump mechanism that take in water and could pump it much high/faster relative to the force of the current and the surface area of the submerged paddles.

Wow, that's so stupid it's awesome. As this system is relying on the rivers flow, one could just put a simple funnel in the stream and get much bigger volume/stronger pressure in the hose. And no moving parts required.
