The First Cellular Phone

On April 3, 1973, the first cellular phone call was made from the streets of Manhattan to Bell Labs headquarters in New Jersey. Using a prototype of the world's first commercial cell phone, Motorola employee, Martin Cooper, made the call to demonstrate the use of the phone.

The call was a major breakthrough in the industry, but it took over a decade for the cell phone to reach consumers and two decades for the land line usage to be overtaken by cell phone usage, worldwide.

I still have my Nokia. Not missing out on anything except being a slave to constantly being connected.
today you tell somebody to leave their home at phone for the whole day and the look they give you is like you killed their favorite puppy.

The idea was "portable means freedom". But the mobile phone has made us all slaves. I am now always on hand to my boss and never away from the office and spend most of my time looking at a little screen. How much of real life, scenery and true natural beauty do we miss because we are constantly looking at a little screen?
