#2 they work for a cause..not like a company that works for profit. So my guess is "as much as possible" goes to the cause..nobody knows..but its not a good thing to always just see the bad side possible. Maybe they made 1000$ on one day..paid 500 for the machine and installment..and 200 for the work..would still be 300 donation plus the extra YT money (almost 2mio views now)..its a win win situation in my book..not every social experiment must be a scam
And the money never gets to manisha personally..it goes to the bigger picture to solve a problem and raise awareness..if you donate to anythning you never know..but this people thought about it, wich is the point.
I wonder what the screen would say if you still buy it..since sadly i really dont care how my shirt was made..could cost 80eu and still be made by this poor workers.

#1 #2 actually, there are regulations, at least in germany, where this spot was made. Who would have thought, that german bureaucracy would regulate this
A maximum of 15% is withheld by the institution for administration, IF the money is donated for a project. If the money is donated to the institution without telling them for what they should use it up to a 100% can go into administration. Additionally most institutions must spend all money they earn within the following year.
Thus take a look at their office building and try to research how much they get donated per year to get a estimate how much goes into investments into the CEO's BMW. Overall the top 10 institutions in germany get a donation of 750.000.000 Euro per year.

Don't think the workers see more money of a 20€ shirt. But by paying only 2€ the consumer gives his consent to the exploitation.

There is a very fine lining to this whole situation. The countries that are being "exploited" are where the population isn't educated, these countries often suffer from severe overpopulation as well. This means that people will take *any* work they can because at the end of the day, little pay is more than no pay at all. Closing down these factories won't solve anything but possibly cause more hurt on the people who no longer have any work. How about fixing the country itself, but of course that won't happen, what we see here is just to make people feel like they're doing something when they're really aren't do much at all.
The end game is still the same, you're sitting by your computer, drive your car to your average/high salary job and get on with your life. A week from now you probably won't even remember this.
People that actually make a difference, you rarely hear about them. It just isn't media worthy news. You'd be so demoralized by the real truth, by the misery that is out in the world - far away from you.

#6 Right on! And I think the cause to overpopulation is us, the "westerners".. I remember some study what I read years back, that was made in Holland after WW2; about how the surrounding conditions affected our breeding/multiplying.. Worse conditions -> more kids. And that's all because of trying to sustain our species. No logic, just pure animal instict.

#6 The change will have to come from within the country itself. The situation is not so different from Europe mid 19th century, when factory laborers suffered under the same conditions. Unionization and, ultimately, law reform, meant better conditions for the populace. This did not go without a fight.
As westerners we should keep an eye out for BIG MONEY companies trying to influence low-wage countries (by basically threatening to take their business and capital elsewhere) into postponing law reform and cracking down on labor unions. It's ok to buy affordable clothing as long as you can see that the money went to companies that care at least as much about their workers as about their profit margins. We should all demand such transparency.

#11 thank you, and the rest of you WTF .. everything is made "there" .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOc9dhmScRY
but you don't have to see the documentary - is there a cotton field around paris? have you seen a bleacher waste tanks around your place .. how can a small merchant afford a 150 000 € renovation of his shop?.. how can there be a 70% sale and they still make profit with all those employees and expansive real estate.
the price of jeans before reaching europe is still around 2€ and then .. hocus pocus
wake up people
