A breathtaking video has been shot over Dubai, as 'Jetman' Yves Rossy and his partner soared into the skies using jet-powered wings that can accelerate up to 200kph (124mph).

Just awesome, freaking awesome :)
Why they cant take off from stand still position, looks like that flying apparatus has enough power to do that. Why to need jump from helicopter?

#1 Aerodynamics..ever seen a plane take off from standing position? (except a harrier)
They would have to run very fast to take off ;) Plus the fuel would be barely enough to gain that hight..the fuel last for only a few minutes (around 10 minutes would be my guess)

#2 that and safety. When you drop out of a heli there is nothing but sky all around you. Sure they might be able to take off if they were on a wheeled trolley down a runway but then there is ground, trees and people all around you.
