Interesting mechanism. When you have water to evaporate, you can create a temperature difference to power a stirling motor (1816), or generate electricity through a thermocouple (1885), which i suppose would be far more effective. I guess the problem here is energy density. You would have to construct gigantic mechanisms to harvest reasonable amounts of energy. Time will show, if there are some amazing applications.

How well does this scale up to a more usable form, like for example charging a standard AA battery? How long would that take and how big would the device have to be to do it reasonable fast.
