Interesting mechanism. When you have water to evaporate, you can create a temperature difference to power a stirling motor (1816), or generate electricity through a thermocouple (1885), which i suppose would be far more effective. I guess the problem here is energy density. You would have to construct gigantic mechanisms to harvest reasonable amounts of energy. Time will show, if there are some amazing applications.
