I work with computers but I was lost well before a quarter of the way through. Duh...

I'm glad that we have scientists like this pushing technology forward, even when they're doing this sort of retrospective stuff.

Kudos to guys who built those machines. Especially when you realize that the effort needed to build it was huge compared to the performance of such thing at that time. It had to be like programming an spreadsheet processor (excel) from scratch just to make a sum of 5 numbers you could calculate in your head in 10 seconds. But without them there wouldn't be the second, third and other generations of computers whose performance improvement was exponencial and paid off the initial investment quite early.
