It is known that tire is composed of several layers to withstand very high pressures. If it is inflated to death, when the blade weakens the surface layers, it is the whole structure that gives a blow before a hole is formed.
Explosion.
With less pressure, the hole would have probably worked.
The idiot is lucky that the explosion did not send the blade into his throat.
