That could have ended in a darwin award. Even with a lot of testing with a safety line, you can only estimate the amount of pull the rope generates against your grip. Try that same stunt only a couple meter higher and you will need a six feet hole in the ground.

Worst thing is that know some muscle packed morons think they can repeat it, which might not end that well.

I would assume they tested over water first. I certainly would. Then the risk is minimal. Now that I think of it,the pull would only be slightly more than your body weight. It is at that point you reverse direction regardless of the height or your weight. The critical thing would be to know at what height your body weight would stop.As long as you can drop from that height you should be good to go.
Does anyone know more about the physics of this?
