#1 this isn't half bad, actually! Perfectly fine for shallow dives.

Obviously this isn't useful for deep diving because there just isn't enough air (volume and pressure) but even that can be solved with bigger tanks. Why not put those on your back, and why not place the air release button on a glove or even on the mouthpiece itself. Before you know it, you've reinvented scuba gear. How do you think it was invented in the first place?

The easier solution might be to simply keep that original snorkel and learn to use it right. And train your lungs - it's surprisingly easy! Forget about scuba; free-diving is even better.

I don't know anything about diving, so bear with me, but he has to push the air release almost constantly, which seems impractical, I wonder how much air at a time it releases...

(i) NEVER go deep and take a full breath while you are under then come back up without exhaling on your way. It's because the air compresses as it goes down further. When you take a full breath, it will uncompress on your way up and bust blood veins in your lungs or if you go up too fast, your lungs could explode. :O
