#2 It really is a tragic dilemma. On top of that the so called "informed" are heavily influenced by agendas of numerous lobbies.

The big question is: How much grassroot democracy is possible before things escalate into irrationality?
On the other hand: Nobody wants a paternalistic government, that knows better whats good for you than yourself. Difficult...

I can only hope the "entitlement class " losers don't out-vote the taxpayers again. :|
It is a shame that Romney decided not to run again because it has been shown that his predictions were correct
about how bad things would get under a second Obama term.
