What he says is true Creepylonghair. Studies have shown that people don't want to be addicted but are addicted due to problems in their lives. Be it homelessness or like video says loss of loved one or abuse. When the problem is fixed and the pain is dealt with the person usually takes measures to get off the addiction.

Addiction, from the law of diminishing return?

To escape the pain...

#1 As ex alcoholic and ex-extreme drug user i think i am in the place to say what he says is right. I hadnt physical pain back then..but highly stressed emotional pain. I used alc and drugs just to numb my mind and get rid of the needles in my head..wich then sure enough lead to an addiction. Every addiction got a cause..and its almost never the the drug itself..its the reason why you need it wich then turns into addiction. Internet addiction..mostly social outcast that got nobody to spend time with and finds his friends online (terrible new addiction)..diet addiction..just because of no self esteem. Coffee addiction..mostly because of a demanding stressfull job. Reason is mostly the cause..and the reason is mostly pain aka struggle aka problems.
I bet $$$ that you dont have a clue what addiction or "pain" means.

Hats off and respect to you #4 for sharing your most personal experience openly, which is not an easy thing to do. It shows you are at peace with yourself and you're not afraid to stick up for yourself when others judge. I honestly cannot say of myself that I am free of addictions, and I think many of us have more than we are willing to admit. It does not make us bad it makes us human.

He is saying all addiction is pain when it isnt. some addictions are pleasant, take women and shopping, no pain there, only pleasure for most i would think. Now take addiction for profit like the big american food companies that saturate foods with sugar. Kids are addicted from a young age but "pain" probably not.

#1 Just wanted you to know that we all feel your pain, things haven't been easy for you have they since.....that thing we never speak about. You just need to know that it will get better...The sun will shine again and then you can ditch those pills, needles, shots, coffee, chocolate, sex and cigarettes and breath again...uuummm breath the clean air.

Be thankful for your limited time on this rock for there may not be another one (life I mean not rocks, there are lots of rocks)Go placidly amongst the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence, then best beloved keep your silly comments to yourself, they have no place in this village, this is a good village, full of good people (really mean with promotions though, even when your sister and her three children's lives are at stake) My final piece of advice is simple, get a hair cut. #9, listen to the video again, you misunderstood some. The addiction is not the pain. The addiction is caused by the pain. Alll addictions are caused by pain is what he is explaining, and it is true. The pain could, and often is, as far in the past as childhood. Obviously the addictions are pleasant to an extent, shopping, drugs, sex, alcohol, etc, the problem is we become their "slave". And what do the big food companies have to do with all that? Please stay focused #9 lol. And yes, kids also get addicted to suger to ease a pain...have you never seen an adult comforting a crying or frustrated child with cookies or candy? It can quickly turn into an addiction. But there is always pain first.
